ILL6 - U Studio Update
To bring our project of designing greetings card for the company U-Studio to a close, I decided upon printing some physical, completed versions of my designs. Overall I completed 6 cards, which mostly fit the brief that I opted to undertake - political movements, mainly focusing on the subject of feminism. The only exception to this was my illustration of a car, which can be seen in the slide-show below. This was designed with the intentions of it fitting under the "general illustrations" bracket. This was not a subject that we were technically asked to focus on, however upon researching U-Studio's card selection, I could see that they did offer a range of slightly random illustrated cards that did not necessarily have a theme. I therefore thought I would include it anyway, on the off chance that they may find it appealing.
Below are my finished designs:
Overall, I am very pleased with the outcomes and I think creating physical copies helped me to visualise them almost in a commercial way. Out of all of the briefs we were set, I feel that this one was the one I enjoyed the most due to the fast-paced work ethic that comes with a project such as this. I firstly thought it would be quite difficult to think of six different designs and illustrate them all perfectly in such a small amount of time; however I eventually found myself coming up with ideas quite quickly and sketching them out in a quicker manner. I realised after researching that a lot of cards are quite simple and I shouldn't try too hard to make them extremely detailed and complex. I think this has opened my eyes to a different are of illustration that I may want to persue career-wise in the future.
